Issue #243

From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

Huntingburg is another step closer to getting pickleball courts. I've got friends in Huntingburg who are probably wondering about that, and I just thought I'd point it out for them.

The park board heard about it and other issues in its meeting this week.

Jasper also took a big step in moving towards starting construction on the Regional Wellness Center this week with the council approval for bonds to be issued. The project is expected to come in under $33 million and be repaid through the Food and Beverage Tax.

That is the extra 1 percent added to your receipts at local restaurants.

As many probably know, we love to eat out around here. Estimates for the tax were around $495,000 annually when it was first considered, but it brought in $755,000 in 2025.

We have a list of early closures. WBDC also does a great job listing those closures on their Facebook page.

Also, as of now, the Chamber is hosting State Senator Daryl Schmitt and State Representative Shane Lindauer at VUJ for the Legislative update tomorrow morning. The event is from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. in the big building on the hill. More details at the link below.

Thanks,

From Dubois County with love.
