From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

I struggle to put this newsletter together each day because I never know when to stop publishing stuff.

A lot is happening in Dubois County, and I often publish updates up to the time I send this email.

However, I have to remind myself of a mantra that a friend taught me when I worked in Seattle with another friend's commercial diving company.

Terry was in Seattle's Lake Union reattaching a turnbuckle to one of the iconic houseboats floating there. It had been torn off the concrete base of the houseboat in the wake of a large passing ship.

His family had been in the drywall and plaster business for many years.

I had spent the day grinding and shaping the turnbuckle to fit in the slot, and Terry was working on reinserting it into the concrete with a special epoxy.

He had been in the water for a while, seemingly struggling to perfect the placement, when he turned back to me and said, "We have a saying in the drywall business. You have to know when to quit messing with it" before getting out of the water.

He didn't say "messing" but you get the picture.

You gotta know when to quit messing with it.

So, sometimes the newsletter goes out, and there is still stuff to publish.

Check out today's Mid-States Corridor story, by the way.

From Dubois County with love.
