From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

I guess this is what it feels like when snow sticks around for more than two days. It’s been a while since we’ve had a stretch like this.

At least 15 years ago, I joined a group of four for a snowy run down the Blue River — a couple of kayaks and a canoe. I still remember leaving Huntingburg and seeing -2 degrees glowing on the Old National Bank digital sign.

The snow and ice had been hanging around for about a week by the time we went out that day.

But Indiana apparently had enough of the cold. Temperatures rose quickly, and about three-quarters of the way through our river run, we were dodging icefalls from overhanging treetops in sunny, 40-degree weather.

It was a great adventure.

Have a great day.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane
