Issue #245

From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

The things people will use to slide down a hill in snow are pretty limitless.

Yesterday, I saw a plethora of sleds ranging from seemingly antique steel disks to the flimsy single-season plastic rockets.

But then there was the lady with the wooden skimboard. You know, those fun little arrowhead-shaped boards used to skim the water on the smooth sandy beaches in Florida.

She had some trouble at first, but figured it out. Apparently, you have to place it directly under your belly and bend backward like a banana, with your arms up like Superman to get it to work.

My wife commented that she must have had incredible core strength to basically hold a boat pose the entire run down the hill.

Then some teenagers brought out a large polyethylene bulk liquid container from the farm. It had been cut down to create a large square bowl with a 12-inch rim.

If you check out the photo in the ones we published today, you can see it was good for a volume of sledders, but it did not perform very well. I witnessed at least three crashes.

We also published a story about Operation Body Mind and Soul's plans to expand their offerings. Those plans include adding a boxing ring. That sounds interesting.

Stay warm.

Oh, and here's the result of that ramp pictured above.

From Dubois County with love.
