Issue #250

From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

Fresh off learning to play Cinch, Amy and I joined a class on Sheepshead taught by Laura Grammer.

She's offered the class a couple of times now, and we wanted to learn not only for the game but also for a potential story.

I have to admit I wasn't looking forward to coming in for a three-hour class on Monday evening after a full day of work. But Laura did a fantastic job, and the class flew by.

With her commanding presence and engaging teaching style, which included a lot of active participation, Laura kept the class moving while teaching us the "Dubois County" way to play the game that includes some "Phyllis" rules and variations of play that occur in Dubois County (apparently, Ferdinand has special rules for mystery partners)

Walking out Monday evening, we wondered who could have ever thought up such a game. It seems like chaos.

At least at this point in my learning.

A few summers ago, I watched the play at the Celestine Streetfest and could hardly follow along.

After only one class, I am a little more in the know, but still trying to learn how to schmear and billy.

Have a great day.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane

During the 11th station, Jesus is nailed to the cross. Maxwell lay back on the cross as a student hammered a piece of wood, recreating the moment nails were driven through Jesus's hands and feet. Hey Reader, Sorry, the letter is a bit late today. Have a great evening. From Dubois County with love. Matthew and Amy...
