Issue #157

From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

I've had the pleasure of taking a few trips with Ron Sergesketter on Patoka Lake and the Blue River.

I've also written about him. He was featured in the second issue of an electronic magazine we published in 2012. The story outlined his adventurous travels and his collection of boats, accompanied by some great photography by Eric Tretter, who was working with Ferdinand News at the time.

I am fairly certain I have a photo of my son wearing a recovered tire around his waist that we found on a trip with Ron.

Yeah, Ron, or Ollie as some folks know him, really likes to pick up trash on his excursions. So, it was great to see that he received recognition for his trash cleanup activities in the recent issue of the Army Corps of Engineers' magazine, 'The Corps Environment'.

Also in today's headlines is a story on an event held in Market Street Park last Friday. Juntos We Stand was held as a somber moment and a celebration of resiliency among the Latino communities in Dubois County. See images and read about it below.

From Dubois County with love.

Friday, September 5, 2025 Issue #159 From Dubois County Kenneth Speedy Lefevre is the Dubois County Veterans Service Officer. Check out a story on him below. Hey Reader, In talking with Speedy, as with other veterans I meet, I enjoy the dialogue that comes from a shared military background. Our services are distinctly different, his marked by war, injury, and loss, mine by relative peace and friendship, but still common in the grinding gears of an organization designed to homogenize U.S....
