Issue #109

From Dubois County

Happy Friday, Reader,

When Amy and I started the Dubois County Free Press, we decided to make all our news and information available to everyone. Thus, we don’t charge for access to the vital news and information we provide, and we never will, because we believe that journalism is a community service.

It has been a labor of love and our way of giving back to a community we care about.

Our advertisers have played a crucial role in our success and ability to deliver our services.

Still, we humbly ask those who can afford to financially support our efforts to consider doing so. That support helps keep the Free Press afloat and continues our mission to serve all members of our community, regardless of their ability to pay.

We’d be incredibly grateful if you could provide financial support, but know that we’re eternally grateful that you make us part of your lives.

Since recently starting the newsletter, Amy and I have received many, many messages from readers saying they love what we are doing and appreciate the impact we are making in the community.

From assisting non-profits as they seek volunteers and donations, to alerting residents to important meetings and events, to telling stories about people and organizations doing good in our county, the Dubois County Free Press and From Dubois County will always endeavor to embody the true spirit of community – neighbors helping neighbors.

Your help empowers our continued mission to tell your stories.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane

Thursday, June 19, 2025 Issue #108 is today's sponsor Amy's Meadow. From Dubois County Hey Reader, Karen and Jose Flores walked me through their entrepreneurial journey today. They own Mi Pais (My Country) Market in Huntingburg and purchased Los Dos Charros, one of Dubois County's first Mexican restaurants. It sometimes strikes me as absurd that I can walk up to someone and ask them their story, and they will tell me. The restaurant wasn't open when I got there, but I could hear voices and...

I really want you to read the story about the Regional Wellness Center because it's informative and may help clarify what's going on. And then you can share it with your...
