From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

Karen and Jose Flores walked me through their entrepreneurial journey today. They own Mi Pais (My Country) Market in Huntingburg and purchased Los Dos Charros, one of Dubois County's first Mexican restaurants.

It sometimes strikes me as absurd that I can walk up to someone and ask them their story, and they will tell me.

The restaurant wasn't open when I got there, but I could hear voices and see that the kitchen was busy. I peered through the locked glass door until someone stepped into view, and then I knocked on the glass until they saw me.

Fortunately, it was Karen. I told them who I was, and then she and her husband stopped what they were doing to share their story with me in one of the restaurant's booths.

We spoke for about 40 minutes, during which they opened up to me about their love for the community and business, as well as serving people and making new friends through their ventures.

Karen even offered up Jose to help me tour El Salvador if I ever wanted to.

I've got his number, in case I ever decide to go.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane
