Issue #263

From Dubois County

Good afternoon, Reader,

While I stood through most of the Dubois County Council meeting last night, I have not finished my story on their discussions. You will get it tomorrow.

However, it's interesting what came out this morning in the headline from the Indiana Capitol Chronicle about the amendment to the Bears Stadium bill. (See below)

Last night, one of the speakers at the council meeting, Brad Hochgesang, touted the amendment as the Mid-States Corridor killer and implored the council to get ahead of it by voting to leave the regional development authority.

The council didn't vote, and the threshold for these INDOT projects to go through a review process is about 250 times higher than they expected at last night's meeting.

Admittedly, they didn't have many details about what the amendment would actually say or which bill it would be attached to. I surmised it would be in the behemoth Department of Local Government and Finance bill, which has grown to more than 400 pages. Adding it to the Bears bill does make one wonder how things will go forward now.

The House did pass it, and it heads to the Senate before going to the governor.

Have a great night.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane
