Issue #138

From Dubois County

Happy Tuesday, Reader,

Bart Meyer waited more than three hours Monday morning to talk to the county commissioners about an issue he had with some roadwork they did.

I watched the video stream of the meeting and heard Mr. Meyer's complaint. I also figured that if he was willing to wait that long to talk to the commissioners, I should go meet him and take a look at the hole he said the county left behind.

So, today, I found myself sitting at his kitchen table for about 15 minutes with his son, Caden, who both appeared to be stopping in the house for a bite to eat between jobs on the sixth-generation family farm.

You can see the story on the issue in today's headlines.

For those of you who didn't watch the video, Mr. Meyer began his talk with the commissioners, asking them if they received insurance for life after serving at least two terms. The commissioners confirmed they do NOT get insurance for life after serving the county.

I'm just putting that there because I've had friends tell me they had a similar understanding.

From Dubois County with love.

Matthew and Amy Crane

Monday, August 11, 2025 Issue #141 From Dubois County Late summer truth on Chestnut Street in Huntingburg. Hello, Reader, Over the weekend, my wife and I watched an interesting film, The Life of Chuck. It's hard to write a compelling description for this movie without giving it all away. But for us, it was impactful. We watched it on Friday night, and were still talking about its central truth on the way to church on Sunday morning. I’m still thinking about it today, not just for its plot,...
