Good afternoon, Reader,

A few years ago, I wrote a story about sisters who remembered their mother's love for the Strassenfest by wearing her dirndls to the opening night of the festival.

Laverne Kieffner had passed away from cancer just a year earlier, so her daughters, Stacy and Tara, donned the traditional dresses to honor her memory.

Here is that story.

I thought you might enjoy it since tomorrow is opening night for the festival that shuts down Jasper's Square and brings families and friends back together in an annual August reunion.

Over the years, I've found that the consistent love for the fest is found in those reunions and the fun that centers around them.
