Issue #154

From Dubois County

Hey Reader,

While the prosecuting attorney in the investigation into Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter declined to file charges against him, the state's certifying agency has notified the sheriff that he may be stripped of his law enforcement credentials based on the information gathered during the investigation.

Sheriff Kleinhelter has 90 days to request an evidentiary hearing with the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board (of which he is a member) or he can voluntarily relinquish his Basic Law Enforcement Certificate.

The sheriff is required to hold the certificate to hold office, and if he loses it, they will likely have to hold a caucus to determine who will finish his term.

Read more at the story linked below and see the letter the board sent the sheriff, as well as their findings.
